What are green coffee beans
Green coffee beans are raw, unroasted coffee beans. During the roasting process coffee beans are roasted in special ovens until they have the right fragrance and color. During the roasting process about 700 different chemical changes take place. Color and flavor change during roasting and some nutrients are lost. The taste of roasted coffee beans is completely different from the taste of raw coffee beans. Green Coffee Tea has a unique flavor that cannot be compared to the taste of a cup of coffee.
From about 1100 AD on people in Arabia and around the Red Sea started cultivating coffee beans. It is assumed that people in the kingdom of Kaffa, now in Ethiopia, first became aware of the effect of eating coffee beans. In those days unroasted coffee beans were used to brew a tea like beverage. Till this day raw coffee beans are used in some types of traditional Arabic coffee.
